Travel Tips
Airline Pet Travel: Preparation Before Departure
Flying with a pet is different from flying alone. Understanding airline procedures helps you prepare mentally — and helps your pet have a calmer experience.
Before you leave home
- Light meal 4–6 hours before check-in (follow your vet's advice)
- Short walk or play session to reduce energy
- Final bathroom break right before crating
- Attach all required labels and documents to the crate
At the airport
Most pets travelling internationally depart as manifest cargo from the cargo terminal, not the passenger terminal. Arrive at the time specified by your agent — usually 3–4 hours before the flight.
Airline staff will:
- Weigh the crate and pet
- Verify documents
- Transfer the crate to the aircraft hold
Temperature restrictions
Airlines may embargo pet travel during extreme heat or cold. We monitor seasonal embargoes and book flights during safe temperature windows whenever possible.
After landing
Your pet is cleared by customs and veterinary officials at the destination. We coordinate handover so you can reunite as quickly as regulations allow.
